Birmingham, Alabama · Independent since 2013 SEASICK RECORDS.
A Birmingham gathering place.
A very good reason to keep digging.

Behind the bins
A song to start.
A love of music.
Dan Drinkard and Chayse Porter opened Seasick in Avondale in 2013. The name came from a Jesus Lizard song. The community grew from there.
A label runner and musician before he became a shop owner, Drinkard brought a DIY sensibility to Birmingham's record bins. Moves through Crestwood and back to Avondale followed as the shop grew. Its latest home is on 5th Avenue South.
Today, new releases and used finds share the shop with listening parties and in-store performances. It's a place to browse music, and to be around the people who care about it.

A shop that grew
with its scene.
Before the storefront, Dan Drinkard played in a band and ran a hobby label in Memphis. Seasick brought that independent spirit to Birmingham.
The first bins in Avondale
Drinkard and co-founder Chayse Porter opened in November. The name came from a song on The Jesus Lizard’s Goat.
A move to Crestwood
The shop moved to the Shoppes of Crestwood in June. A barbershop later shared the space, adding another reason to drop in.
Music beyond the shelves
Gaelynn Lea was booked for an in-store performance on February 9, 2019. WBRC’s concert announcement Vinyl Me Please also recognized Seasick as its Alabama record-store pick.
Back to Avondale
A larger space followed in March. As the shop kept growing, its next chapter took it to Lakeview Marina, its current home.
